It is really heart warming to see how many people are showing an interest in the skills of Irish lace making.
Our 2016 Carrickmacross lace courses have now closed to bookings but if we have enough enquiries we will be able to offer another date this year.
We now offer groups and organisations the chance to host a workshop at their own venue and this has proved to be very popular…..our diary has been filling fast.
A group only needs to generally have a minimum of 8 people attending and we are already taking bookings for 2017!
Irish lace employs needle lace techniques;
Unique to Carrickmacross lace is the use of applique and Limerick lace is noted for it’s variety of ‘needle run’ stitches.
Kenmare lace is characterised by the many variations of ‘buttonhole’ stitch working freeform over an image to create amazingly intricate designs.
If you can do basic sewing stitches, you can learn to make Irish lace.
